Voluntary Standards
Idea is since PIEs need to provide full information of their supply chain and a lot of SMEs are art of the supply chain the SMEs can be forced to adhere to VSME to then work with the PIEs which need the data.
Smaller companies which are not following VSME will be out-competed by the ones that do when cooperating with PIEs. This is also relevant when working with banks and investors → EU Taxonomy Regulation
